The leaves in picture #3 do look like a Silver Maple. Pictures #1 and #2 are definitely Norway Maple. Maybe there is a neighboring Silver Maple in the yard as well?
Bingo, and that is just what you can see above ground. There are likely many more stem girdling roots below ground. It is an extremely common and unfortunate characteristic of this species.
