    Thanks for posting that, Kenny. Even though this highwayman variant has been around a decade, I have somehow missed it. I use the original often on short redirects and it has served well. It is interesting that the load end reverses. That is something I might like.

    . The Porty is a funny tool for defining how a round turn works because it tilts off axis and, therefore, changes the whole dynamic. A strap-on bollard might be a better choice. I understand your thoughts on the counter force of opposing half circles but that is not how I think of it working...

    A 360 round turn works very well without the 180 if the line remains perpendicular to the cylinder.

    That was one of the best explanations of why a single and nonmoving overhead pulley has mechanical advantage for a climber. It is amazing how often this is still argued.
