Yeah , that would suck, but I have not had it come close so far and I have used it in a variety of ways. I have both the non-locking and the Z on my saddle most days. They are just so useful.

Gary, have you tried the S.C.A.M. method for a redirect? The Rollclip Z is perfect for that.

Do that often and you get your mentioned one leg overuse injuries. It takes no more time or effort to place the other foot on the instep and use both.

I have seen guys jamming up a tree using one leg while the other one just hangs. Always struck me as weird. It is so simple to use both legs with just the one ascender.

Cory, get a right foot CT foot ascended and a left knee ascended. I use the HAAS Velox and am happy with it but you would be as well served with the SAKA. For a chest attachment, the Petzl Torse works great as it is long enough to also be used as suspenders. Speaking of the Torse, on the page...

I am sure a lot of climbers will love that lockless CT. I have found that the locking version works in any direction at any time needed and that more than offsets the slight inconvenience of reaching down to unclip it.

Cory, about redirects. There will be many times were you will 'not' want the rope to run smoothly at a redirect. It will depend on the angles, but sometimes it will be better to 'cable' the limb with your rope at that location, just tie it off, to better support the limb.

I can't believe how much you guy's fuss over just setting your rope over a bare limb. I never use any cambium protection and also never have cambium damage. Your rope really should not be sawing back and forth.

Yes, Sean, just Sylvia. But, i have never had any trouble with maintaining control of my work zone. It is amazing how fast a branch can hit a grounds person doing something stupid. If any of you are truly working in situations that you can't control, you need to think beyond just protecting...

For the same reason that the world is in turmoil. Fear based on a partial understanding. Not being able to recognize the entirety of the situation so they focus on the negatives, and an unwillingness to change based on historical norms. It is a basic human condition.

It helps if you make a hole first. A hot nail of the right size does that trick.

Honesty, Cory, if I couldn't set my line from the ground, I wouldn't be using a base tie either. A tree has to be pretty bad for me 'not' to be able to set a line from the ground. I'm actually have a hard time trying to remember even one. I do however, use an APTA with a laser sight and that...

Why would you want to? If you have set your line, just climb up that. What am I missing?

Cutting the down rope is a legitimate concern. You need to do whatever it requires to reduce that possibility. The best thing you can do is to get it out of the work zone. You are more likely to cut it than an errant grounds person. There are many ways to do this, but the best is to just...

If it is any consulation, it was the same for me when I first started with SRT. Even though I could easily see the possibilities and I could feel the efficiency in movement, my body just didn't want to cooperate. It took a concentrated effort to change old climbing habits and some things felt...

Could you elaborate a little more on exactly what part of leaving it tied as a basal bothers you. Getting comfortable with using a base tie is almost essential for maximizing possibilities and potential.
