Perhaps the recoil spring needs another turn or two tighter...that higher tension might keep the cord in line better.- Burnham

Hopefully the fuel/oil mix was proper. Otherwise, it might be seized if accidentally straight gas was used given your report on the sequence of events. Welcome, sir.- Burnham
