Ye gods...some people do love to over-complicate things. That system is seriously unnecessary...though interesting, I'll agree. Old school shining through :). I'm not one to cast aspersions on any of the wonderful advances we've made in hybrid SRT systems, for sure. Adopted many of them as...

This is my method, too. I like keeping color codes for different lengths. Didn't always manage to do so, but liked it when I did.

It was so much simpler, not to say better :), back in the day when we quibbled about how many wraps to put on our VT hitches :D.

Dave, yet again you amaze me with your clear headed, constantly on going analysis, of the function of whatever system you're climbing on. That tip for tucking the hitch tail is another example. Kudos, my friend. I expect Sylvia suggested it, if truth be told. :D

I'm having some stoopid issues, apparently...I still don't see it at all. Thanks anyway, for the attempt to help me out with that, Wally :).

Not following, Dave. A place I am familiar with, so it's not you :).

I hear that...my modded micro rescue pulley, and the ring I've mounted on my Sequoia bridge, are some bit fiddly to deal with, for sure.

Those Pintos come with (or at least, offer as an option?) an insert to keep the side plates from being squeezed, do they not?

Ropewalking is magic, when the tree allows it. Sweet, guys get to it!

I only try to set one leg, the ascent side, in as tight to the trunk as I can make it.

This works for me, too...but the occasional small drop still always scares me some, no matter how much I know that it has to be small, knowing how I've got my ascent line arranged. I look at it as a heart health measure...those sudden beat rate spikes must be good exercise for the old pumper...

Works better as Dave describes, for me too. But also as he says, it's small degrees, nothing giant.

I wish my pile was so compact.

And of course, we know most stainless steel alloys can certainly rust, too.

Not here...not to say it couldn't or wouldn't. A thought. I'll tell you, from personal experience, it's amazing how corrosive human sweat can be. A bunch of us USFS climbers experienced very rapid stainless steel grommet failures in helmet harnesses, a couple of decades back...might this be...
