    How's the splice today?

If they don't pull apart, leave them as you made them. If they do, try another method...the hog rings/shrink wrap would work fine, I'm sure. It's not rocket surgery, after all. I have always just knotted mine in that app. Maybe I'm a slacker, but knots suit me just fine. A sliding...

    How's the splice today?

I was misled by the color of your Micro. All my Micros are red, and the Macros are purple. Of course, for that diameter rope, it wouldn't have been a Macro :|:.

The Macrograb is a solid piece of kit. Or is that a Macrocender? Both are good, but for a lanyard, I liked the fixed bolt of the Macrograb.

    How's the splice today?

I am far from a splicing expert and have only a little personal hands-on experience with the art and craft of it. But I have looked closely at a very large number of splices in my 5 decades of rope work, by both pros and amateurs. I see nothing at all to give me the slightest doubts about...

    How's the splice today?

Whipping might be considered sacrificial. Just tucked and pulled down underneath the wraps is a solid finish. If it gets ragged or loose, just redo it. Mostly, it'll last a long time. Those thimbles are galvanized, yes? I think you might find they are not as smooth as could be desired and...

    How's the splice today?

Looks good...but I'd bet the stretchy suspender straps give out real quick. The throwline is far more abrasive than the elastic can handle. Put some sort of smooth metal loop in between, maybe?

    How's the splice today?

Back in the heavy logging days, say 1945 to 1995, that sort of work was an every day thing in hundreds of logging gear/chainsaw shops all along the Cascade mountain chain, both west and east sides, from northern California to British Columbia. Days long gone now. Hard to find a shop still...
