This was a big year to get full two years ahead on heating ... usually get next years at least off the stump by December , when tractor is here in summer we are forwarding dry wood (about a log truck plus). This year due to view work we took out more than double that. Sold and traded some but...
He's funny and wants what he wants. Larger diameter favored (all the butt logs) but doesn't give a shit about smaller diameter cut to length ... If it's me I would pack the log truck ... He says he's old and crippled so running an outdoor boiler doesn't think smalls even at measured length...
Guy who did my brakes traded for a log truck load of firewood , was glad to do it really. Asked and asked for a length spec and never got one. Have had quite a bit of tree length forwarded and ready ... Finally get the number 18' 9" ... Cut most of a load to said spec working on and in the pile...
Green Mt. State has this covered ... "Face Cords" , "Pickup Truck Loads" , "Dump Truck Loads" are all out (legally speaking that is) ... cut split is sold by the Cord or fraction thereof.
Since I started learning about all this I have called Ash "Survival Wood" ... super easy to identify , easy hand splitting for the most part , burns just fine the day you fell it. Heat , Cook , Survive ...
Technically I'm ahead on Wood (probably nothing else though) , just finished burning the two year old stuff and relying one the one year old cut split to finish the heating season. Have everything forwarded and blocked for next season ... plus have tree length pile forwarded here for the...
I suppose the only upside to EAB ... plenty of great firewood (in the legends of arboriculture video they said back in day of Dutch Elm , they could not get all that material down and to the dump fast enough)
I've started mine , have some cut split leftover from last year , got everything else fo this year off the stump in February (which was a chore shoveling out the butts) ... my heart isn't in it when it's hot and humid
Yes wood dries better stacked but it's another step , you won't lose any Locust either way ... I will cut long runners for stacking of whatever is around.
