    ...sell to the big mill get screwed on Veneer but they have a huge chipper and will take low grade logs plus any load can be mixed hard and soft...the smaller mill gives you a better deal on high grade but will never take softwood. Both mills prefer loyalty...dirty biz

Big Mill will buy more species more often but will not scale for Veneer, though it does get re sold to the Veneer mill ... the smaller mill will will give a better price but tend to be rutheless on grade when scaling... though they will buy odd...

    ...on the bright side locally it is not like all the mills are closed, far from it...one real big one that will buy a broad spectrum of species hard and soft though not great prices , plus a few more that specialize in either or are still buying with market variables ..now Veneer, hmmm well...

    Logs / sawlogs are anything going to the mill , firewood is still long but not called logs here...cut to size for splitting we call them blocks

    .....Jay, it is not about market as many boards wind up back here in homes...it is about labor and costs...Canadian and Chinese mills run three shifts while domestic mills are closed...where. are the jobs and paychecks...?...

    .... there are thousands of empty containers with nothing to put in them in the US, ship rates back to China are a fraction of the forward freight price, large local mill invested in stationary gigantic chipper buys Hemlock by weight (30-40 bucks per Ton) , chips go to China. Not sure what for...

    Logging here is all about Logs...the equipment and expertise it takes to fill the landing then the truck with the best pieces....lots of variables...bore cut all Hardwood ....the Mill end is as tricky as anything on the lot
