What?! It says this on the instruction sheet for Gecko Aluminum climbers: "Chainsaw use together with tree climbers is not recommended."

I didn't see how the straps attach to that ring.

The ring is about the width of nickel on the outside edge of the frame. Looks like a Pinto Rig spacer almost. Couldn't find a Gecko pic, but here's one from Buckingham.

I tried the aluminum Geckos today. Tried on, not tried out. Is it a made for Sherrill brand only? Are footplates available for that brand? What's the small ring for, opposite the spur?

It seems most of the ad pics show the spurs on a Wesco style boot. How important is that? I usually climb in a hiking boot like this:

I'm thinking of getting a pair of spurs. Never wore any before. Any tips for first time buyers?
