Nasty locust tree in a bad spot. Quick three hours from arrival to pulling out. The crew was happy for a break from ROW work. Did some saw maintenance and took some tests for the gas companies requirements. Still trying to figure out how we’re supposed to wear an ID badge and work.
It’s a bitch but keep up that recovery road. Push yourself but know when to say when. You need to stay mobile so in 20 years when I can finally come to Alaska you can show me around😎
Yes but not very far. Heart and one lung keeps them close. Also a good wide cut broadhead does more damage than a bullet. We have mostly shotgun here but if it was rifle I would do headshots unless it was a trophy size buck. They don’t go no where
Probably should move to the hunting thread with...
@cory. I’m slacking lately. The archery I just picked back up and I’m not happy with my results. I’ve barely gun hunted ( never found it a challenge) and never bow hunted. I want to be very lethal. One thing I despise is hunters that have to track animals for miles after shooting them. I want a...
I am shooting lefty. For muscle balance I’m going to incorporate pulling with my right arm soon. I’ve been waiting on my neighbor to clean his basement so I could get a cable machine but I might just have to do it with free weights. Cable machine would be nice as I could mimic almost exactly...
I’ve been slacking for most of March. I don’t know what’s going on but I can’t get motivated. Seasonal depression maybe or getting burnt out from work maybe. Don’t know but I’m forcing myself to do it now. Started yesterday and calling the cold plunge and my group of 100’s nonnegotiable. I don’t...
I went to the Arnold classic a few weeks ago to support 3 guys in our gym that were competing in the grappling. New guys did good. A guy I started with took silver in gi and nogi. I had to step in as coach and record video. Basically I was just encouragement because I could give him no advise...
Went to Tappan Lake campground today for the gas company. A pair of 120’ tall white pines inside of their fence. We stripped as high as we could with the elevator before lunch. One thing treework has done for me over the years has made me a professional fence guy. I took the chain link out and...
I’ve been on gas company ROW clearing for a while now. Mud season is upon us. Nothing terrible so far. After a few weeks of tight quarter areas we finally got a nice felling group. I’m basically running the mini skid and keeping an eye on the boys. Being the voice of reason when they try to...
Temps dropped for a bit. Had terrible wind all day yesterday so I got pulled from ROW work to storm work. Nothing too complicated but a welcome change of pace. Temps are supposed to go back up and then drop again later in the week
I could disappear in the Smokies. I wish it wasn’t such a popular vacation spot. The last two times I visited I was able to wonder off by myself for a few hours for a reset.
Decent today but now starting to rain again and not supposed to stop until early Friday morning. I am at that point in life that getting a rain day will not break my heart or my wallet. Being off would be a welcomed mental health day. I need a break
The plague has hit my house. I must be patient zero because I’m the only one not feeling the effects. A bit tired but that’s nothing new to me. Pretty usual day at work. I don’t think I should go to BJJ this week just in case I’m the carrier. Sucks because we added a night to get some guys...
Well I was able to hold my own at BJJ tonight. I was able to get quite a few submissions with no taps from me. I almost felt like I was good at it. Just got home and realized that I must now have a garage cat.
She’s a decent critter. Comes in the house for a few minutes and usually wants...
Had a climber for part of the tree. He was uncomfortable taking the top which I understood. It had to be cut at a weird dogleg that positioning sucked. I ended up saying “don’t worry, pappy will show you how it’s done”. I did it and finished the tree. I was able to find a small area to flop wood...
