    Bridge lengths

I'll tell you, my friend...in more than 40 years of professional tree work, I so seldom set an overhead climbline for a spur climb as to make it something less than 5 percent of the time. You work in a very different forest type than I, so there should be caveats :). Gaffing out is a...

    Bridge lengths

I'm with @friedrich...a very short bridge will squeeze you like a toothpaste tube. Long pulls are overrated...especially by short peeps like me :).

    Tree covered in poison ivy

Chipping PI sounds like having a death wish, to me :D.

    Tree covered in poison ivy

You're most likely a rare exception, Scott. Lucky you. Butch used to swear by taking Oral Ivy as a preventative. I have no idea if it actually works.

    Tree covered in poison ivy

Just say no to that "got to climb" tree :). I would. Me and poison ivy/oak do not play well together.

    How'd it go today?

Paper cuts can be painful for true. Any injury under a fingernail multiplies the discomfort quotient. Happy Christmas, David! :)

    How'd it go today?

Behind the times again! Thanks, Rich. I see Yale also makes a rope they call Poison Moon...same as Blue Moon and the old version of Poison Ivy, apparently...

Outstanding, Rich. Have a fine time. I too really like Yale for my climbing rope...Poison Ivy here, but Blue Moon is same same.

What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

M took some pictures of the high water in our creek and over the road near the end of our driveway... Underwater, just left of center of the first pic, is the 36 inch diameter culvert. A sucking whirlpool forms and dissipates every few seconds. If you got near that, it would take you down in...

Elm tree that splits into 2 sides, which one to cut first?

Not holding my breath for that one to happen. Seemed strongly committed to DYI.

Elm tree that splits into 2 sides, which one to cut first?

Good question...we'll likely never know. Hopefully he is fine, maybe even wiser...but I wouldn't bet the farm on that last bit.

    Hazard tree contract fallers

Aye...just used it most recently on bucking several humongous rounds off that wind-thrown cottonwood by the creek and bridge. As Gerry noted before, it has a sweet ring to it when striking a well seated wedge :).

Bump, just to keep this great old thread around. Some great stuff from quite a few members no longer spending time with us, sadly.
