Right, if you were negative rigging, it sounded like you needed more height 😅 Different charts for different cranes, that specific crane you could get considerably more height at 100’, but your capacity decreases by ~40%. Most cranes have a deduct for the jib being stowed .

Does the 45127 have the jib? I see on the chart doesn't favor using it at a 100' radius, but negative rigging to pick with the crane is also powerfully slow.

Got a good source for Stihl parts online?

X Cut is worth it, in my experience, at half the price of Stihl chain when I priced compared locally when I bought a case of 72DL. It stretches far more than Stihl chain, but my groundie handles the normal saw maintenance so it's not as big of a deal for me. I'll check Stihl pricing next...

I have 7/8", I don't use it that often, but it's nice to have. With bigger equipment comes the option for bigger pulls, if you have the situation to make it make sense and the gear to pull it off. (punny)

    How'd it go today?

I noticed the same, @Brandon , any word on what happened?

    Saddle bridge

I'd stick with a class 1 rope construction, poly/nylon. As long as its strong enough, it's fairly well up to you, it would seem.

How busy are you this year compared to other years?

You’re extremely tempted to do snow removal in an area that practically doesn’t get snow problems…. I believe that illuminates the crux of the problem.

I took it to mean burning the debris.

You need a number for line tension to suspend the load, which depends on the weight and the angle of the line. After you have that you need the angle at each end point and you can calculate the component vectors from the known resultant vector.

My helper spent ~15 minutes with a hose soaking around that stump. I wear a mask running the blower or if I can't get out of the way running the stump grinder.

Cranial or facial PPE? Standing perpendicular to the wheel is fairly safe. I ground deeper than usual to reduce the chance of material being thrown forward by keeping the deflector low. It's definitely gas, a similarly powered diesel grinder would be around $200k. Practically the...

How busy are you this year compared to other years?

Yesterday I somehow misread that as $5k a day. We’re an outlier for equipment/ efficiency I reckon, but we absolutely wouldn’t work as a crew for $2000-2500/day. I’d send one of our part time guys out solo with the little excavator and/or stump grinder for that. Even before the latest...

How busy are you this year compared to other years?

We’re still busy with enough work to get into October and ~35 bids to give (some are aged, which is still a problem; we’re working on a process to help with). Could use a full time laborer that has aspirations, but we doubled down again on equipment to keep our 2.5 man operation productive. We...

Yep, next Sunday is when the second payment is due, we've put ~150 hours on it. We need to figure out a storage spot for the 36" outrigger pads and an easier way to move cribbing with the variety of machines we could have on a given site. I misunderstood while we were setting up, we had more...
