I've never used the stay technique, back pocket saving it for the right tree. Love the drawing btw

Never seen those before, keep us posted on your crane!

    066 rebuild no start

The fuel is fresh, probably 32:1 mix. Im going to try a new clutch and see if that stops the spinning sprocket. Can get it to idle low, just, not low enough to stop the spin

    Winter work gloves

Past few winters I've been wearing 5mil nitrile gloves under insulated grippy gloves. The vapor proof layer really seems to help. I almost never work below 20°F though. At that point mittens with hand warmers are the only option for me

I don't use a clove hitch on anything I couldn't manage by hand, and even then pretty rarely. Once saw an 8' oak log roll out and land maybe 10-15 feet away from the guy running rope. Its bad for dynamic use!

I bet the Danes aren't letting in people suffering from bloviating right now. Could contaminate their whole happy society!

Daniel, Barber chair is likely better abbreviated as BC. I can't see where the extra b comes in, just a thought

The beautiful growth habit on those oaks you get into. Look like it'd be tricky climbing all the time, but they sure do look nice

What Did Ya'll Have For Dinner Tonight?

My favourite wing sauce is 50% butter 50% Frank's. A classic for a reason! Coated before cooking helps crisp em up, then again after for more heat

    Caring for Our Sycamores?

Also, I'd suggest you stop pruning the interior (proximal?) branches. Better for the long term options for pruning, allowing reduction cuts when needed.

    Caring for Our Sycamores?

Anthracnose is my guess too. That's what my guess for an east coast sycamore would br anyways. Lots of big mature sycamores that have that same look over here. Seemingly very slow to cause major problems

What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

The wind is now up here, temps dropped by 20 degrees. Very strange light today, twilight for an extra few hours from the low rain clouds. Comfortable sleeping weather tonight anyways

    How'd it go today?

Attempted some front end work on my VW. Every single bolt was a huge fiasco. Got a few new parts on, but only about half of what I was planning to do. Just a real ball breaking day. Figured I'd just get it back together and drive it to a mechanic. The clunk noise I was trying to fix is gone...

Definitely got it blowing smoke and running rich. Cranked out LA adjuster till it almost fell out, and it was still running puking smoke. Sprocket kept spinning though. Im thinking the clutch springs are worn out maybe?

    Your thoughts on Air conditioning

You're probably just exhausted from eating sugar in the AC!

What Did Ya'll Have For Dinner Tonight?

Jalapeno/ onion/ oyster mushrooms on broccoli. Jalapenos were stupid hot, just absolutely pouring tears. Trying to figure out what to do with the leftovers, not sure I can eat that again tomorrow!

    What Are You Drinking Tonight?

I'm on a virgin bloody Mary kick right now. Can of v8, 2 teaspoons of horseradish, Worcestershire, black pepper, Tabasco, and some dilly beans! A little bite to replace the booze during the weekday evenings Plus all that sodium hits the spot on these hot summer days

    How'd it go today?

I have no idea how people can drink and do tree work. Seems totally reckless, but I guess being a drunk is reckless by itself... Hooray for working smarter not harder
