Cinching climbing line while on Gaffs?

Thanks guys! I will look into the quickie. I tried the gaffs yesterday for the first time. Only went up about 10 feet . Did it quite a few times getting all my stuff set right. Flip line length, technique etc. I will try the butterfly. I fought the biner quite a bit. Anytime I lost tension on...

Thread Cutting Fluid vs. Bar Oil

Drill your 1/8 pilot hole and then go straight to the 7/16. If you go larger than the cross section of where the two flights of the drill meet, it will grab. Too large and it will grab hard enough on 1/2 drill motor to almost break your thumb if not careful.

Cinching climbing line while on Gaffs?

Yes. For this anyway. Plan on using my GriGri2 to my bridge. Just curious as to how most people cinch line to the tree. Carabineer or a knot of some sort etc. I like the descents on the GriGri. I figure this will be less clutter than my ring cinch I use for DRT type redirect. Fewer carabineers...

Cinching climbing line while on Gaffs?

How do you cinch your climbing line to the tree while working your way down the tree in gaffs? Going to get in some practice this weekend and looking for the least cluttered way to manage the climbing line while on the gaffs.

    Gaff question.

Thanks for the idea for the gaff covers! I have some of the shields on the way that go around the inside of the boot area . This tree stuff is something I can walk away from if I do not feel comfortable and come back later. I have nothing to prove but simply enjoy it! You guys who do it for a...

    Gaff question.

Harsh but very true! Been an all trade mechanic in a large mill my whole adult hood. I have saw people loose fingers, a hand and saw one leg amputated buy a hydraulic lift table. All but one were production employees. We had a 38 year no lost time record, then I had to respond to the amputee of...

    Gaff question.

I got them for $125. Actually ran into the kid who pawned them. Might have been 125 lbs soaking wet. Said they were to heavy for him. Already got some gaff shields in the works. Upgrading boots before I strap them on.

    Gaff question.

Thanks guys, got a good tree to learn on. I know 2 people that have gaffed themselves... Slow and careful, Kind of reminds me of wearing horse spurs. You had to learn to walk without getting your other foot.

    Gaff question.

Thanks guys. Why are the permanent tree gaffs even longer than the replaceable tree gaffs spurs? So they can be sharpened?

    Gaff question.

Been keeping my eyes open for a set of gaffs and just ran across a pair of Buckingham permanent gaffs with the T pads that have never been climbed in for $130. This will be my first set and I will not be doing any production work, just on my property for the removal of some Poplar trees. The...

    Hitchhiker vanishes from Treestuff?

I should never have to point out someone else has a lower price. I will just simply shop where my dollar buys more.

My chain saw is camping out for the night...

Well, I got back in the tree today and single roped almost to my TIP. Cut three more big limbs and had no issues till the last one... I dropped my saw AGAIN! Non locking carabineer.... Off to find a small locking carabineer. The echo is one tuff little saw.

    Hitchhiker vanishes from Treestuff?

My last treestuff order was perfect and cheaper than Wesspurr or Sherrill's. I will continue with treestuff until that changes. I do have limited funds for this and will go the cheaper rout regardless of who it is as long as service is good. Service is king in the end.
