    Bad chainsaw habits

Yep. You're right, he's the boss. And the boss needlessly breaks his equipment "on the job" which cost time- which equals money. With a business model like that, I don't think too many of us out there can afford this. Not to mention how poorly it reflects to the customer when you tell them...

    Bad chainsaw habits

My employer feels the same way. That's why he's replaced to pull cords on a saw that has 1/3 the starts of mine. Recent cord check on mine, still looks brand new. ;)

    Rigging Birds of Paradise

Here in Fla. that would've been $250 all day long. If you actually ask what it's worth, they'll find someone to do it for a 12pk of cheap beer. Too many tree-scabs going door to door. And when we get called out to price a palm and we tell them $50 to prune, they immediately say; we had a guy...

    NWA Cottenwood Takedown

Great editing! Good notching too. Sure do miss the tall trees of the north. I've not been higher than 80' since moving here 11 years ago. Thought that was T00L -I remember when Robert Fripp did some collaborating with them. . GoPro is the greatest invention of the 21st century! So many...

    Bad chainsaw habits

My number 1 is watching folks yank that starting cord with such force- pulling laterally, and until their hand and arm reach toward the heavens. I was trained to never pull beyond 16" and to pull vertically. I've got a bunch more -but I'll let others have a go first. If this type of...

    Chainsaw Sprocket

Thanks Willard<? I seen first hand that not changing those sprockets out, really screws with a chains performances. My employer has been reminded time again to have his replaced, he just won't do it. It's such a quick and cheap fix. I just replaced my plug last week. Last one was about a...

    How'd it go today?

Been real sick for over a week now. My g/f is a teacher and brings me all kinds of diseases every month or so. I just went out back of my place to limb up a Brazilian pepper tree for the last two hours. I about passed out from dehydration and exhaustion. I love being ill :(

    Chipper blades

Not owning my own tree business, I've been fortunate enough that once the day was over, I went home and didn't think about tomorrow until it came. But I can't tell you the times throughout the years, where I would come back to the shop at night -— and there would be my boss- sitting on top the...

    Songs I Like

I went to see Mr.Bungle in the 90's where Patton played a Jerry Reed song.... BTW: my post was a spoof on the Rolling Stones. Shows no one really cares nor listens to music others like. *raises hand* Guilty as charged.

How Do You Brace Yourself When Takin A Wild Ride?

Tell me about it... For the first couple minutes, I was sure those guys were a "green," tree company.

How do you sharpen saw chain?

I always begrudge the day I have to pick up another gallon of bar oil. But lately I've been thinking of going biodegradable. It's just so damn expensive. Plus I won't run anything stihl doesn't recommend. Yeah, I know-- I'm a purist that way....

How Do You Brace Yourself When Takin A Wild Ride?

Would've loved to of had that luxury. The tree sat in between two driveways with both homes just feet from it.

How Do You Brace Yourself When Takin A Wild Ride?

My employer had a climber before me, who refused to do them. His excuse was that he wasn't comfortable standing on a 6" spar 50' high. I'll definitely be better prepared next time— if that's even possible.
