    Topping Harms Trees

Yoi Yoi Yoi! Alright, answer this question, please. So you make the decision -on a tree as to where to cut it- and you do it "anywhere" on the branch you deem appropriate, but the cut is not done as taught by the current ISA standards, just a simple lobbing off the end. No bringing the cut...

    Topping Harms Trees

I did see that. But again, they are no different in "essence." The only difference is -one is maintained, the other disregarded after the first butchery.

    Topping Harms Trees

EU has been using the practice of Pollarding for over 3 centuries. Started something along the lines of a certain king not allowing it's citizens to continue cutting down forests at the rate they were. So Pollarding became fashionable due to it lending many sucker branches for burning wood and...

    Tree Angel

What I liked is the Stein Tensioner Pulley! I got some ideas for this thing. As for the first half the video, he could've simply quick rigged them with slings, untied them and threw them out as far. Would've saved 15minutes. I'd like to see someone manage big rigging with this system....

    Topping Harms Trees

AKA; topping Topping or Heading, is taking a branch back to a set point -and forgetting about it further. The only difference with pollarding is it's managed every other growing season, back to the same cut. Tomāto - Tomäto

    The Official Work Pictures Thread

This house was your typical rundown found in Tampa. It was lost to the banks and picked up by a flipper. He was currently renovating it- hence the oak removal. I was just pleased there were no customers yipping at us while working there.. .

The Fiskars Pruning Stik pole pruner thread

I've seen that there is a ratcheting style Pruner head compatible with certain Silky models. Once the season picks up, its on my list. I appreciate how it can be adapted by just a removal of a few screws and placed on your Silky pole. No, its not produced by Silky, but it retrofits and looks...

    Mistakes, Accidents and Near Misses.

Knew I couldn't had been the only one to have had this happen. I just switched my Caritool from the saddle to my suspenders- directly on my chest. I will be looking into a lanyard for suspension of assorted gear & devices. Reaching to my left for equipment comes as natural as breathing to me.

Plants, Insect Poisons -and Other Allergic Reactions

Back in the mid 90's- some of you in North America will remember the very real concerns of the Gypsy Moth. These little guys were everywhere -with a voracious appetite to match. When I was a kid, I had picked up a woolybear caterpillar and within minutes my hands were swollen with a hive type...

The Fiskars Pruning Stik pole pruner thread

That's similar to what I remember. What I didn't care for was it cut with an anvil type head, rather than a shear. This would make it difficult to make a proper cut if you couldn't get in at just the perfect angle. Have you used the Fred Marvin heads and not liked them? I can't imagine...

    Mistakes, Accidents and Near Misses.

On another thread, someone mentioned leaning over and putting ones face over a cut to see how the cut is managing. I'm at a golf course NE Ohio removing a 175 year old White Oak. This was the largest tree that I had to take down, that early in my career. The branches where bigger than most...

Then you've noticed the dark brown honey comb type membrane just under the fronds. Like straw width syphoning tubes -for drawing water. And heavy as sin, for it's relatively small diameter.
