They never said anything at the Panasonic welding school about contaminating tungsten. :/: I don't imagine it would stay contaminated long.

I don't know anything about that particular welder, but judging by all the gauges and switches, it's a good one. I payed over twice that for my Panasonic, and it can't do aluminum. :( What does a bottle of Argon gas run you over there? Here it's about a hundred bucks, the price having...

Adrian, when you reach a point where you will be teaching people, which I'm pretty sure that you will, just think how much you will make it easier for yourself by keeping it simple. :D

Spending money is real good for the overall economy. Second in importance is whether the products being purchased are good or not. Disappointment isn't so bad.

Risk taking at the logging events... It's the axe choppers between the feet thing that gets me. I can barely watch it. I use an adze, it isn't so hard to slip up if your grip changes.

I was messing around on a kid's wooden creosoted swing set and got a bunch in my hand. Not fun at all. Then the sliver down to the bone requiring surgery, from a pole we use to measure log lengths. I've had my fill of slivers.

After dialing it in and it softened up, HRC cord with Hivee has been working well for me. Admittedly, not many other types experienced to compare with.

Glad you like them, Stig, and the size is OK. MB, they aren't so large on the inside. Without the plastic toe protection insert, they are more comfortable. Definitely a trade off with that.

Take an equivalent diameter of stable braid, and it has an higher average tensile breaking strength than the rated safe working load of wire rope. Jump up to 5/8" stable braid, and it about doubles. Some variance with the types of wire rope.

Willie, those bags get wide use here for a lot of things. I wouldn't say that they get used so much in tree work, but if you can find a use for them, they are quite durable, at least what they have in these parts. I recall on one large job where big brother was watching, they worked well for...

Heck of a high minimum breaking strength for that diameter rope. Wonder what safety factor they figure in for the working strength?

You don't. Someone was using a remote controlled helicopter to fertilize his rice fields, they are about four or five feet long. He was bringing it in for a landing and miscalculated and ended up chopping off his leg.
