I hear steel toes are the safest but I used to be a firefighter and have gotten used to not using them. Steel toes heat up when you are walking around in hot ash beds and do not cool down. Getting a hot foot is not fun.

They were my favorite fire boot.
White's are much better than Georgia or Redwings. I have owned those boots as well.
I wore them on fires. They are stiff and hurt like a mofo until you break them in and then they are great. They weren't as durable as I hoped especially in wet weather. I didn't get one year out of mine.
