I can’t imagine any real advantages of using those over air unless the convenience of just squirt and fire. But air’s free! And quieter to boot. and while a tater isn’t flammable, I’d dearly hate to see a $20 throwbag flying though the air on fire...

Just leave the cap off the end and it’s nothing but pipe and valve. Or ship it unassembled. Surely even a Dane could grasp tape-and-tighten...😳 (If not, it would at least give us fresh ammo for mockery...)

Started out using my Slime compressor, but required walking to the truck for every charge. Bicycle pump now.

More accurate IMO, and more powerful too. Pump it to 120 and it’ll go over any tree in Alabama.

There’s no comparison, Kyle. I haven’t used my Big Shot in years. I only use the APTA four or five times a year though.

Sorry....why’s what? Ring down? Because the weight of the line will make it flip flop if the ring is on top. Ramrod? Why bother? The ground is always there!

I’ve tried several different bags, but the Petzl Jet 10 oz works the best for me. If it’s a really high shot or a tree with rough bark, etc, I’ll swap out for a 12 oz Jet. I just set it on top, RING DOWN, and ramp the APTA on the ground until it’s seated. Never used a ramrod. PETZL - Jet...

I prefer scissor, but that’s all I’ve ever had. I suppose there may be advantages to each.

I always load lighter up front anyway so chunks don’t slam down while dumping and beat the floor up. Still happens sometimes. My 20’ is way slower than my 16’, but it has a 30k# hoist...fat cylinder/skinny hoses.

    O.C.G.D. Thread, part two

How do the scissor and dual-cylinder compare in your experience? All three of mine are scissor hoists. I looked at some straight cylinder trailers, but on all the ones I saw, the cylinder cleat hung down beneath the trailer and I sometimes dump in not-so-smooth places and didn’t want it hanging...

Were your other trailers straight cylinder or scissor hoists, Brian?

What he said. You’d have to fab the mount so you could roll forward enough to actually be raking and not plowing. And they’re more forgiving than they look.

I thought about building one out of a landscape rake. Wouldn’t take much fabbing to make to work with the BMG. Plenty of times to get most of the debris, and they’re strong enough to handle the debris. The BMG rake leaves a lot behind if you’re pushing much weight.
