    The Official Work Pictures Thread

I've heard BL posts last even longer than the poison infused stuff (pressure treated). I've heard it can be used in timber and framing and other wood working, but you have to get it when its half dry. Once it fully dries you can't drive a nail in and it eats drill bits and saw blades. I have...

    Insect and bites

When my climbing saw throws a chain it tends to nick up the drive teeth which sounds like what happened to you. I find I can usually save the chain by finding the buggered up drive teeth and filing them smooth again. My other saws usually don't have that issue due to the style of drive...

    O.C.G.D. Thread, part two

I have the P2 in my other 2 trucks, also from advice on here. I have never used any others so I have no comparison, but I'm a fan of the Tekonsha's. The trailer wiring is easy, we had to basically redo the entire setup on my 4 runner when I added the brake controller. I was just hoping it was...

    Spur Ascenders

I've been putting my foot ascender under my gaff also, certain trees its just easier due to angle or number of limbs/crotches to pass. I didn't realize there was a spur ascender that fit kleins, I'll have to look into that.

    O.C.G.D. Thread, part two

I figured we'd have to wire it, but one can always hope, right? That lift gate is the main reason we got that truck. We're really looking forward to putting it to use.

    O.C.G.D. Thread, part two

Got the plastic panels added to the stake sides today, she'll hold some chips now for sure. She goes to the weld shop tomorrow to fix the lift track and get a receiver hitch made. Does anyone know if Ford had trailer wiring / brake controller wiring on 450's back in '89? Sent from my XT1254...

Saw Storage - Decompression Button Question

At first I didn't need the decomp on my 461, then it broke in. Being built like a bean pole might have a lot to do with it, but I always use the decomp if the saw has one. I was taught a few years back not to drop start, so I don't, but I think its mostly driven by statistics which are driven...

    Foot ascender rope tending

Didn't get to try out me idea due to various setup circumstances, but I did start to hate my pantin. I made sure to tuck my pant leg into the ascender, which helped, but I kicked out so often that I wanted to send it sailing off into the woods. I'll try the down turned toe next time out. The...

Advice needed on a Second Hand 201T

A friend of mine just picked one up from a pawn shop for 250 if I remember correctly, not sure if its old or revised, but for that price I'd still think its a winner. You never know when you might stumble across a deal, or an attractive gamble. .

    Foot ascender rope tending

Tachyon with the TreeStuff remake of the old pantin. After about 10 feet or so I can usually kick my foot to feed rope for another 5 or so steps till it truly self feeds. Your comment made me think a bit though, and it might be rope drag from the cuff of my pants just above the ascender. I...

    How'd it go today?

I've heard shingles is awful, Sorry to hear about that. My truck does have the tank switch on the dash, and the pressure activated valve under the cab that is known to fail and drain one tank into the other.

    How'd it go today?

Seems more of a traction contest than pulling power. That's a nice pair of trucks there!

    How'd it go today?

New float is on order, $30 at the dealer, parts store can't get it, something around $12 from Summit, waiting for it to arrive. I'm really not worried about running out of gas now that the rear tank is working, we're keeping an eye on all the other fluids till we get to know her a little better ;)

Improve this A-Frame tree prop design

I like the revised drawing, are the smaller rectangles plates on the outside or a joint of some type on the inside? I'd go with Sean's idea of putting a plate over the joint to make sure everything stays tied together. Although it seemed to me you had the issue licked with the concrete bases...

    Foot ascender rope tending

I've read the basic tricks for rope tending with a foot ascender: Set someting heavy on the rope Tie something (rope bag) to the rope Have someone hold it Has anyone tried clipping to a carabiner on the rope bag and clipping the tail back to your saddle? Just to clarify, the tail from your...

    Maple reduction

He's not that picky, and he's way too busy to make himself available while I trim it. As long as it looks like something's been done to keep the tree "in check" he'll be happy, but it needs to be visible. Definitely a good time for before / after photos. I've been climbing SRT exclusively...

    How'd it go today?

Yeah, she just about drained the front tank driving it back form Delaware, about 2.5 hrs. Fuel guage was not working, ran out of gas 5 miles into the next trip (luckily a local run) and the rear fuel pump was not working either. replaced the rear pump and put a temporary float on the front...
