If the refrigerator has computer controls, as most newer ones do, it's not the power draw that's the issue, it's the uneven delivery of voltage from a non-inverter type generator. Can cook the computer.
Just to help make prepping and packing the Subaru for our month-long trip to New Mexico a bit more of a hassle, as well as set up the first two days of travel from here nearly all the way to southern Nevada as a full-on winter expedition, we have this...
Mind you, the higher elevations are really getting it big time. We live a little under 1500 feet. At 3500 and above you could swap the inches I report for here, for feet up there. Like Stephen's place.
Snowing again. Most of the week past, forecast for most of the week upcoming. Not all that much, and the temps are usually creeping up enough in the daytimes to keep it from building up too much. Have about 5 inches now. Wet sloppy stuff.
That's "stay home" weather.
Been pretty cold here for the last couple of days. High teens/low 20s. The cold is much more invasive to body and house than you'd think, just because the wind has been 12 to 20 mph the whole time. I've been pouring the firewood through the woodstove.
On the plus...
Looks kinda sucky Stephen, for true.
I had to drive into Gresham for a Dr.'s appointment this morning. Not bad road conditions out here where I live, but there it was 6-8 inches of slushy snow over the last two days, packed down to 3 inches of glare ice frozen solid by lows in the upper teens...
To truly repair damage from deep rutting is nearly impossible. Cosmetically, sure. But restore hydrologic function that interfaces properly with undamaged adjacent ground? Theoretically possible with a few soil types, but difficult to achieve.
The freezing rain has arrived...back deck and front porch stairs are treacherous. But it's not all that cold, about 25 degrees, so it'll probably not last too long into tomorrow.
Nasty weather, both Jim's and Tom's. Downright dangerous to be out in.
The forecast cold front for here must have stalled out some...hasn't gotten as cold as expected, though the freezing rain/snow mix is still due tomorrow.
Not much snow forecast here, but quite cold, lower teens. Freezing rain in a couple of days, as it's going to warm right up again to the 40's. That can make for all sorts of havoc with trees and shrubs...as well as traffic.
