Naw...not quite that much precip here just now, Sean...not enough to qualify as mizzle...this is straight mist, off and on with breaks of none at all.
:)
Snowed here at the house for a little while yesterday afternoon, just a skiff stuck for an hour or so, then cold rain washed it away. Late for that around here.
I've snowshowed to felling jobs off and on, but the next time someone tries to line me up for a climbing job that involves the damn things, I'll clearly remember those days collecting grafting scion for Doug fir seed orchards back in the early '90s and offer to tear them a new azzhash.
:D
Well, tempest in a teapot...me and Silver trudged back in with no rescue to report, nor much tree either.
Several smallish alders on the road, being cleared by a good ol' boy who just wanted to drive around in the snow in his 4x4 for fun.
I found the deputy who called in the tree...some...
So much for waiting for the snow to melt off a bit...just got a call from the lead LEO that the county sherrif's dispatch reports a down tree with some poor soul trapped behind it, on one of my roads not too far from town. Off to the rescue...maybe some pics to follow :).
Probably so, Stephen. I'll have to wait for some of this new snow to go away before I really get an idea of the situation, both on the roads for work, and the trees at home.
Over the last 24 hours we've had 12+ inches of the wettest, heaviest, sloppiest snow you've ever seen, at my house. Much more in the real mountains. I'm hoping most of the plants and trees that are laid over with the snow load will recover their form, but I know I've lost 25 or more bitter...
Was 15 degrees F. on my front porch this morning. Beauty of a clear, bright day, what with the bit of snow about to reflect the sunlight. Nice day, if a bit brisk :).
Very cold front out of Canada forecast, snow down to sea level, lots of it expected in the mountains. Had about an inch at my house this morning, snowing hard when I left for work.
We had about 8 inches on the ground at my house, then freezing rain turned it to an ice rink yesterday afternoon, but the temps kept rising and it's all a big slushy mess now. It's amazing how much water a base of snow can hold.
