Gary, you could get a job being a safety overseer during astronaut training when they try to simulate weightlessness doing tasks in a pool. Couldn't ask for clearer water either. Maybe it would lack adventure?

I wonder if the navy dive teams that cleared obstacles in the rivers in Vietnam, if they wore helmets? A friend of mine was in such a unit, later became an oil rig diver back in the states. He said that in those rivers in Nam, often you couldn't see sh@t, like zero visibility, everything might...

Nice going, Nick. V grooves is it now, the jaws of my Chicago are slightly rounded. Klein is the name I was trying to remember without looking on the tool. Havens are excellent for lifting loads into trucks, etc., but I don't think the swing latch is really necessary for that purpose...

Sorry Tom, my bad, I meant good old duct tape. You know the tape included in the required list of supplies that the US government said is essential if a nuclear blast is imminent.

The pullers are generally available at places that sell gear for electrical workers, like up in towers. There is a big outfit in the states from where I ordered mine, but sorry i forgot the name. They come in various sizes to handle rope or cable within a specific expanse of diameters. I...

Adrian, you might want to get a cable puller for mid line attachment to both rope or cable, as seen in the foreground next to the block here. I picked that idea up out of Jerry's book. The unserrated jaw type doesn't damage what you have it attached to. They are reliable when it comes to...

1.8 ton and i ton on the Tirfors, Leon. Of course with a block up in the tree you can double that. The Maasdam covers a lot of what the smaller Tirfor will accomplish, but the larger one really is an aid for jobs that otherwise would have that certain level of apprehension. The usefulness...

Adrian, I've had one of those for years, the version with the cable. A well made device, I like it and it has been very useful, but now mostly use an endless line cable Tirfor for hard pulls. Good luck with it!

You may not need so hot a fire, and burning slower requires less maintenance in putting in wood. I see advantages to logs and lesser seasoned wood. I like to mix real dry with not quite so.

The US has cheap energy. My shop costs me $150 for the electric per month before turning anything on. The get you here by the size transformer you need on the pole for your main breaker. Usage goes on top of that. Few know of any different approach, so nobody complains. The public...

Pretty common to see Kobelco equipment available at lease places in these parts. Korean machinery for farmers is big now, cheaper than the locally made.

Good luck with the new gear, Fred. A machine like that must make a boring job less so, or maybe more boring done in a day.
