Here's me (putting my money where my mouth is)....milling pine 10'6" by 20" or so in the park on a Sunday....

I milled some redwood 1" slabs today. Planning on getting that pine in the park tomorrow with my neighbor. .....We'll see.

I like that cross strip idea in case the legs are short....i could probably make the tenons with a skill saw and chisels? What's the best tool to make that mortise.....and for that matter the tenin? Stretcher....racking.....I'm learning things. Thanks Jay.

Here's my current project...Monterey Cypress cave man bench.....basically wanna get these 4" slabs out of here.
My question is how to attach them....do i trough the underside of the slab and slot the verticals in and...

The redwood looks really good after just a little sanding.
I'm sure drying for real is a whole nother elephant.
I'm reading up on joinery...like bow ties and dove tails.
I bought a drill and some sanding discs for the grinder...til i can get a belt sander. Money's a little tight.
Need to find some chisels and what not to get that intricate joinery. Youtubing the heck out of it.
