I rather doubt Trump actually believes any such thing.

I doubt a cat would survive a single coyote attack, let alone more than one.

That didn't go well for the poor saw.

What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

Today has been one of those where if you don't like what it's doing now, just wait a few minutes. Sun, rain, clouds, blue sky, hail.

    Wood stove heat

The wood burning fireplace in the Lake Quinault lodge has a propane gas manifold under the log fire grate. It burns all the time, with a few 3 foot logs 6 or 8 inches in diameter above the gas. They burn down until another few are added again. I have no idea if the manifold has needed to be...

    "Reverse Stump Shot"

If hinges did not bend, it seems counterintuitive that a vertical bore under the hinge (what Stig calls a German cut), or a swizzy, would work. Yet they do generally work...I think that's because hingewood does bend before breaking. I also think most pulling fiber happens at that point of...

    "Reverse Stump Shot"

I have to disagree with your conclusion, David. I base that opinion on my own observations, the USFS S-212 classwork, and on the words of Doug Dent. Caveat: my trees in my climate :).

Here on this part of the Mt. Hood NF, we didn't have a great deal of trouble with deer browse for the most part. Some low elevation Douglas fir planting units needed protection, and what we usually used was Vexar tubing. Labor intensive, must be done to exacting specs, and stout staking is...

    Packsaddle Grove is gone!

So many of what used to be our favorite places to hike and backpack have been lost to fires over the last 25 years or so. Mostly in Idaho and Oregon, but also in California and Washington state. M and I lament with you, @stig. It truly is heartbreaking. Don't forget this thread...I never...

Can Tree Roots Breach A Heavy Plastic Liner?

One thing to consider @lxskllr regarding cutting that willow...you'll be unlikely to kill it by simple basal pruning :). It will resprout, most likely, and those roots will continue to threaten the pond liner. Willow is hard to get rid of, at least the native willows around here are.
