    Yes, that's true.

Much simpler. I'm only wanting to run the refrigerator/freezer. All a dedicated line wired in would end up being would be a buried extension cord, more or less :). After all, it's just a small portable generator.

Yup, they can be run in series with an available kit.

Update: Finally received the heavy duty extension cord I ordered to bring power from the genny into the kitchen. Filled with 5W-30 synthetic blend. Fueled up with Stabil Storage variety fuel treatment/regular gas from the new dedicated 5 gallon fuel can. Started on the second pull. Settled...

I understood, Stig. I misled you with the point I made about using 40 gallons a year, I think. That was just to show it will be easy to rotate out the 5 gallons or so of stabilized fuel I will keep on hand, dedicated to the generator alone.

It does have a drain for the fuel tank.

Alkylate fuel is clearly much more expensive an option than I need. I run through about 40 gallons of gasoline a year, powering all the infernal combustion engines that I use to manage my small acreage. Two small tractors, the DR all terrain mower, pressure washer, air compressor, chain...

My plan as well, Austin and Sean. But I'll look at the stuff Stig suggests. Probably too expensive to justify, but I'll check into it.

I'll look into it, Stig. Thanks.

The WEN 2250/1800 arrived yesterday. I have not run it yet...I'm going to buy a new 5 gallon fuel can, fresh fuel and stabilizer, dedicated for the genny. Test use thereafter. What I can report is the packaging is impressive. Heavy duty cardboard box with stapled/glued seams, lined with...

The WEN generator I chose, as well as the other similar ones in that product line, have a nice function...to shut down, you turn a switch from run to off. Off does not stop the engine, it closes a fuel supply valve. The genny runs itself out of fuel in the carb and bowl, then dies, leaving no...

No worries, my friend. I don't completely discount your thoughts on it, but I did do quite a lot of research first, not only into the generators, but into WEN as well. I don't think the situation there is nearly as bleak as you paint it. Time will tell, of course.

Sorry John, I missed your post. I looked at Generac, Yamaha, Honda, and a long list of lesser brands. Spent the most time researching these first three and the WEN. Honda is very good, top of the market...but to get something similar in output to the WEN I chose would cost 3 times as much...

Kyle, I think the 2350 is the newer model. I rather suspect it's priced cheaper because it's built a little cheaper.

One potential downside to any of these smaller WEN generators that is very easy to overlook unless you read the owners manual closely...the 2250 requires a change of carb jet for operation at elevations 3000 to 6000 feet, and a different jet for 6000 to 8000. It's not a hard job to do, but...

I can tell you what I found from my research. The 2350 has the same engine and electrics as the 2250, it only produces more power by running at a higher default setting RPM. The 2350 has a smaller fuel tank and a shorter run time per tank and per gallon of fuel used. The 2350 has on average a...

Brian has it about right. Couple the distance, the trees, and add in our weather (plenty of rain, snow, wind) and you get power outages. Often the breaks happen in places very difficult to access due to topography. We also are near the end of the power feeds, so we get repairs after lines...

1800 watts run, 2250 surge. I got it through Home Depot, free shipping, $508 and change all up. WEN makes several of similar output, slight differences between them...you have to look close at the details to pick the best of their lot...I think I did. Slightly larger fuel tank, longer run...
