Mark up of a couple of bucks on string? Times must be tough! Anyway, I’m not looking to have a go at anyone, but as I get older I relate to this more and more, business is not just about money

I am getting burnt out on tree work and it may be piling up, waiting to hear, maybe have work down here, but housing is a roadblock

    How'd it go today?

Franklin M155 stud finder - does quite well with wood or steel studs, and good for tracing electrical, too The fellow up on the pick with me is a friend who was a machinist at the local Chrysler plant for 30 years. Trickiest part of the job was finding odd jobs for the less ably endowed to keep...

I’ve tried local. I can only handle so much markup.

I always try the locals first. Then it's off to Amazon.

I’d much rather buy from the local shops. Keeping them open benefits them and us, but if they have to order it and you have to wait for it to come in and then they mark it up you might as well order it yourself.

Hung an 85” TV in the classroom of the local woodworking store yesterday. The sixteen 1/4” toggle bolts through commercial steel studs held a 36” x 52” piece of 3/4 plywood. The tv mount was held by four lag bolts into studs, and six smaller lags into the plywood. A total overbuild as the tv...

What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

Back from Chicago. Instead of a high of close to freezing, it's going to be 50s and dry today... arriving back to a broken tree laid up into another conifer for a likely new customer. A way to slide into a job instead of having maintenance day. Nothing too pressing.

My my, it seems @cory has discovered my own guilty pleasure. I love dashcam and bodycam footage. There's such a beautiful plethora of terrible behavior to observe.

I bought a spool several years ago, still have 75% left. Will last me the rest of my life.

Opening up the drifted road to the fields for the manure spreader. There wasn't that much snow, but a lot of wind.

What’s even more shocking is that I’d prefer to buy ten starter ropes for a better price than I can buy two, and I actually thought someone else might want to do the same. If you prefer to pay more, be my guest. I keep spare starter ropes, spark plugs, bar nuts, bars, and chains on hand to...

Stuff is cheaper on the Internet shocker! On the other hand when all the shops are shut because everything is bought cheaper off the internet, you can just shut the job down for 24 hours till the parcel arrives.
