I have no formal formula. And zero experience with euc of any stripe :). I like to keep a good 20 to 25 percent of the width of the hinge on each end...so that leaves 50 t0 60 percent to gut out. But I've gone with less left on the ends...and I don't think very much more. When I've used...

Tree down in St Louis. Need help.

At least it looks like damage to the house is minimal, and not at risk of further damage from weather, etc. Hope that's the case.

Something I'd never think of...scaffold on wheels. Sounds like a viable option to explore, at least.

Here's a link to a thread with a controlled let down...a training exercise I was part of. Might give some ideas. https://www.masterblasterhome.com/threads/rigging-out-a-root-sprung-leaner.13738/

I have used controlled lower a handful of times, to protect lightweight asphalt parking lots. It does work, but you need a strong, tall anchor point, and two anchor points works mo betta. That takes two people to work in a very coordinated manner to let the control ropes out simultaneously...

    I’m a sucker for a bargain

That should work a treat, @Mick! Well done. Have you found an appropriate fairlead for it? IME, Warn fairleads are a solid unit, but you need to keep the rollers well greased, and there are no zerks. Easy to remove one heavy duty retaining ring on each roller to pull it apart, grease by...

What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

We're still having a fire in the morning, sometimes keeping it going all day and evening. Low 40's lows, low-mid 50's highs. Some drizzle, some clouds, some sun breaks.

Seems like trees would be a lot better than grass. Grass never cast a shadow on a porch or deck.

Have I mentioned I eat poison ivy?

I guess the trick is to remember that there has been an old thread before :). Sometimes it is a frustration. Nothing exists in the current forum memory from before about 2007. Anything that was posted to the old gypoclimber.com url is gone forever, near as I have been able to find. Choices...

Have I mentioned I eat poison ivy?

I searched the term "oral ivy". Often, I can find an old thread IF I recall a semi-unique term or phrase used either by another poster, or myself. Then hit the search function. Sometimes it works well and gives a short list, sometimes it takes wading through a lot of hits to find what I'm...
