@Dave Shepard Hey, I'll take that old International Scout if it's available :D.

    Logging Choker cables

1 1/4-inch cable...that has to weigh over 2.5 pounds per foot, iirc. I'm sure 3/4 inch is about 1 pound per foot, and 1/2 inch is about half a pound. Move much cable around by hand, and you'll know it's heavy stuff :).

I never carried a plumb bob, but I have used my clinometer, hanging from it's lanyard. More often I used my faller's axe...hold the axe at the end of the handle, pinched between thumb and first finger. If you hold it at the correct spot so the head is centered weight-wise, the straight handle...

I have thought so but couldn't say for an absolute. In the scenario as I've used it, the rope or cable is wrapped multiple times around the log to induce roll when the rope/cable is pulled.

It is a similar arrangement, if I have it correct. The rope or cable is wrapped or laid doubled, so that when pulled the cylinder, be it a log, barrel, or whatever, rolls.

    How'd it go today?

Even out in the deep rural countryside hereabouts, there are cameras galore these days. I see them on houses, barns, sheds, fences, trees. Someone not from up here in my neck of the woods known to a moderately distant neighbor of ours told the neighbor, who then told us, that he kept seeing...

Full wrap handle...should have done the whole job from the other side. Pics never tell the whole story...but I'd not choose to put myself in a tight bind of a place to cut from, given what looks like a wide open spot on the opposite side.

    Logging Choker cables

I have a bunch of them in various lengths and thickness. All salvaged off of completed logging sites when I was working. Left behind/lost/abandoned as too much work to haul out on your back. Useful items.

What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

We've not been without a woodstove fire a single day, yet. Another month or so will see us out of woodstove season :).

What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

Rain and then some more rain. After that it rained. My little creek is gurgling nice and brisk.

    How'd it go today?

Not really. Once I got my hip healed up, and the leg muscles that had atrophied built back up, which took about a year, my increased activity level seems to have upped my metabolism enough to allow me to eat about what I was accustomed to before. I'll back off from time to time if I see that...
