Another, younger cat, I suspect. My gf lost a cat due to infecting from fighting... it's her neighbor who made the cat-io. It just needs a good perch or two to finish it off.

This was the only deadwood of significance in the part of the oak over the propane tank. It was still solidly attached. An old break. Might throw a small, green oak log on the mill to have a look. I only have to span 4' between mill supports where I have a clamp. I might have some good...

Ah, free-hand with a guide line. A good solution. I've never used a helper handle.

Cool. I guess you felt like they were straight enough. Surprised you free-handed it.

Pictures don't do justice... rough- cut is nothing compared to danced and finished... spalted maple. Miriam milled a bunch of it. First time.

Cookies, so crosscutting not ripping, and soft wood. Lots of stuff that's too wide, needing to be ripped down. I have to mill a 22' fir log for a mill shed header.

I got this funny purple coloring from the bark dust, I'm presuming, like I've seen with reddish color from doug- fir, I think. I might have had my water running too much. I wonder if this increased it. This is after washing the slabs a bit with a garden hose. This is a short section of a...

Messing around with something that's been spalting in my work yard. Looks like it would do well as an epoxy tabletop.

We'll see if it becomes milled lumber or milled firewood. :)

I'm wondering when a log has a lot of internal stress in it, and it splits, is it likely to just be junk, or will the stress have been relieved enough to get any good lumber out of it. This bigleaf maple log started splitting when cut, then the crack grew a bit more. I used some splitting...

I hit the log clamp on the mill with the blade for my first operator mistake, besides breaking off the fuel lever (on order) with the recoiling starter handle. A new torque wrench is great for setting the tension. My old one is a deflector one that I don't really use. Now, I have a click-type...
