It's also not clearly evident why he was felling uphill which brings in another element of risk in the falling operation.

Seemed like he was having trouble going uphill over limbs carrying the saw. I think a smidge more cleanup and leave the saw.

What Did Ya'll Have For Dinner Tonight?

Possibly the last round of stormy weather til fall, so I'm making tater bacon soup, before it's too hot for soup.

I've said this before...put you head in a lion's mouth enough times, your turn will eventually roll around, odds are. You have to behave on every single fell/top/buck like this is that time. That way you have a bit of a chance that the mitigations you took help you survive the unlucky universe.

I’m surprised the power company hadn’t already cut it, as they have a 15’ ROW easement, though they often bend that...

Makes sense, thanks. I have used small string to separate things by wrapping it tightly over itself such that the compression force of each wrap adds to the ones below, and as they try to slip past each other, they wedge things apart. Leverage with string.

I forgot to mention that I had side guys on it as well, just in case that once I got to the top and cut the last limbs loose, the root ball wasn’t secure enough to prevent lateral movement. If it swung to the right, I’d have been riding toward the power line, and to the left, a 20’-30’ swing to...

    Starter rope

2 wraps get wedged side by side in the pulley causing the pulley core to separate due to the force. With properly sized rope, there isn't nearly enough room for 2 wraps to be side by side so the wraps stay stacked on one another as intended. What is a better word or description for 'the pulley...
