If you are building a shop or building out this one add some acoustic paneling. It will make running an impact or air hammer tolerable.

Looks like a decent setup, I’m not sure how well the chain will hold up but the bars should be good.

Used to be. Poison ivy was the trademarked name Sherrill had. Now I believe Sampson makes the poison ivy rope. But yes, I love my Yale 11.7 ropes. Quick break from MIL. Outside burning the paper from all the stuff she brought

I beat the hell out of stable braid. I for years have said that Samson for my rigging and I trust Tom Yale with my life. Mostly climb on blue moon or it’s equal Today was another great day of not being at work. Woke up at 4:30 to meet the group at 5:30 for a work out. It was good for me. Then I...

Finally Got an Old Homelite Gear Drive Running | Quick Question on 1/2" Chain

Hope no one minds another old Homelite gear drive post. Had to share this one. I’ve had this Homelite 775 G sitting in a box of parts for about three years, along with a clearing bow bar. I kept seeing photos online of old Homelites running bow bars, and every time I saw one, I wanted to get...

The best of natural crotch rigging were the days of Manila triple twist - we lowered a lot of tops on our 5/8” and 1 1/4” at speed with minimal burning/glazing. Of course that was 45 years ago, pre-synthetics. Manila for the winna

So I have 2 climbing saws 1 35cc that I run 3/8lp on and a 25cc that I’ve been running the Oregon .325 nano chain or the Husky equivalent. Only thing about the nano is I hate the huge safety rakers it has, I’m ocd with hitting my depth gauges and those safety rakers make a simple task a pain in...

@SeanKroll , my barn for the equipment, roof and one wall to block the summer afternoon sun. Next year I'll probably add the other lean to and maybe enclose the middle for a work space, although I may build a separate structure for the shop. The only unique thing is a felt like material on the...

Out of the box feel/hand I have to give the nod to Samson. I’m working my way through a reel of Maple leaf 1/2” and it feels slick and plasticy off the reel. But when it breaks in it’s nice, good wear resistance. Milks a bit more but nothing excessive.

I have a lot of Samson stable braid. Maple leaf ropes has good deals. A 3-strand hard lay Sampson tree-master if using a Maasdsm rope puller. I like the grip and friction of Treemaster for natural crotch self-lowering without a lowering device. Needs breaking in. Many don't...
