    I did it a little on smaller wood. Pretty efficient. Keeps the mess together, throw it in the wheelbarrow or whatever, take the bungee off. I do something similar when I split on the press. I split the round 99% apart and shove it off into a crate where it falls apart. No chasing stuff around.

    Simple method. I'm not sure I've ever seen the need for tire or chain/bungee :), but aside from that, seems a reasonable trick.

    You hook one end to one end of the chain and wrap the bungee around and hook it to whichever link works on the other end. The chain is just for size adjustability.

    Cut off the large limb with a power pole saw, set a pull line, cripple cut the stump, pull until it breaks off.
