How well does 5/8 rope work in Maasdam?

I’ve used several braids, etc with it, but found 1/2” Treemaster to be the best. I’ve tried a couple of other 1/2” 3-strands, but Treemaster is firmer/harder than the others and works the best. I don’t know that the Maasdam is built anywhere near strong enough to make use of the strength of 5/8”...

    Wall of Shame: Wannabe Experts

It appears to me that they had a log laid out next to that pile of leaves/debris that would have caught the fork that would have hit first. I’ve dumped some big trees onto pavement before, with plenty of logs/limbs laid out strategically to absorb impact. I’d have put at least two lines in...

    The Official Work Pictures Thread

I've snapped 1/2" quite a few times, and 9/16" once (Stable Braid) while pulling. he drama of the rope breaking isn't near as monumental as what happens next with the piece being pulled. I bought a 175' length of 7/8" StableBraid a. while back for a job I had pulling a really big tree. Wound up...

My first Glock was a G22. They may not be the most aesthetic handgun out there, but they are arguably the most reliable. It’s an absolute shame to see them cave in to political pressure.

    Saddle bridge

I bit the bullet and bought a Monkey Beaver 2.0 last year, after 38 years of Weaver saddles. It has been good in every way a saddle can be. That said, it's the first rope bridge saddle I've ever owned. The bridge is showing some wear, and I'm contemplating a replacement. I have quite a bit of...

Utility uses tree trimming costs to justify rate increase

Line clearance has taken a nose-dive in the last 30 years, at least in my area. Back when I was with Asplundh, when we got done, it looked like you could land a small plane in the ROW, if not for the poles and lines. Now, they get what they can reach with the Jaraff and let the rest go until ice...
