    Wall of Shame: Wannabe Experts

How much back weight compared to front weight? The trunk looks reasonably straight. The crown goes front and back. Pulling/ wedging/ jacking force had to overcome that difference in weight plus bend whatever hinge is present. Enough oomph will tip anything. Once we had a terribly rotten...

Multi-prong approach. I have wedged some big trees. A bottle jack, if you don't have a real tree jack is a whole lotta 'go over there" with plenty of tight wedges. I've only jacked big trees with Silvey jacks. He called for more rope force which went from whole lotta (insufficient) pull to...

Wedging trees is an art that many are not familiar with. Instead of pulling harder, more wedging!

I doubt that they are brand new. Just saying... Easy to get a new truck and vehicle wrap, hi-viz and PPE'd out and look pro with minimal experience. Easy to have the same reliable equipment for a long time if you aren't breaking or losing it, if you bought quality, and have it look...

The Humboldt is primarily for speed of production

I would expect that cutting with a lean pulls more fiber with a standard backcut as the hinge is only cut until its time to exit. A backstrap trigger for a bore cut would allow a thinner hinge if desirable.

Looks like it may have set back or the wedge was getting no support. Maybe doesn't know to bore a wedge hole in a closed backcut.

This hard leaning alder was hovering over the fence. It broke in the recent wind. The crown of the alder was being supported by the crown of the fir that became the rigging block tree to hang the alder whole. I faced the tree toward the block a bit. After back cutting, once settled a bit, I...

It would be great to have a load cell in some pulls to mentally calibrate some things.

Yes, with that break in the slope, it would hit the street hard. The right amount of fluff and flatness are needed.

Heavy hauling of a roadside, dead tree's trunk from the HOA. I 'hid' the bit of brush in the edge of the greenbelt. The trunk wood would have shown. A dead willow, I think. Idk the fungus. Anyone?

The two leaning towards the wall are dying off. Serveral horizontal limbs would have needed hands or rope on the branch to keep it off the retaining wall . A sizwheel and double- hinge in the tension wood also steered lines better than a standard face...again skipping rigging. It's...

Not running out of work. Steady simmer. I've got a guy I know asking to work for me. He's got his own fledgling biz.
