Those seem rare these days. I happened across a great one in Maine this summer, they had eeeeeverything including a very well stocked hunt and fish section with lots of firearms and ammo

Chopping out huge tops is awesome but seems doable, but the idea of doing it without a double tie in blows my mind
Interesting. I never thought of using no back cut but river birch is extremely strong like that. My usual method is lean it over using a narrow face (short: not open) and then repeat as needed making new felling cuts above the previous one until the trunk is parallel to the ground.
