That was a whole lotta tree. With that much weight, and perhaps some internal rot (?), maybe no reasonable hinge would have held up to the sudden shift of weight to the back cut. Obviously a much stouter pull rope was in order. For true, dumping that monster onto a road is an odd choice as well.

Think I figured it out. 🤔 " Go over look, usually something simple and I guess I'm the "wiz" kid sometimes. Mostly work the floor and registars. More in that store to remember than...

Pulled 4 dead, crusty maple away from their lean/ a house. No clean up. Another bigger maple to Put on Ground Only, along with a half- failed willow and a big cherry prune. Sequential because of sprawling limbs. Cool and dry...zero sweat. Miniloader and throw line-placed pull ropes...

I think he left too big a hinge cos he was worried, so the rope couldn’t do its job. A better hinge, wedges and more controlled pull, but adrenaline got the better of him and he called for ‘Mo power’ and a career defining clusterfck ensued. Lessons to be learned. Edit. I just rewatched it...

Maybe pump steam around the hinge for a few minutes to soften it.

Should make for a good video at least, longer viewer engagement, more time for ads, ect. I tried this on a white oak, It didn't help noticeably

Thou shalt not "YouTube video how to" on trees. Kaveman hath spoken, thus it is law. Really though, what in the actual F$#K? They obviously had a climber up to take off the limbs and logs on the ground, why not the rest of it? I just do not understand stupid.
