You need a number for line tension to suspend the load, which depends on the weight and the angle of the line. After you have that you need the angle at each end point and you can calculate the component vectors from the known resultant vector.

The plot thickens. Will the unhealed heavy cuts heal over? I assume they were cut too close and too large. I seem to recall reading that the healing tissue can be trimmed back slightly to encourage it to keep growing and completely compartmentalize?

Maybe move the chipper on a smooth bottomed skid of some sort...like a small jon boat? Or a purpose-built plywood sled?

Small thinning cuts (to the origin of the removed branch from the 'parent' branch for a few feet of clearance from the house. Branch collar cut via 3-point pruning cut method. Hand saw. Check for oak wilt season. Lysol spray for sterilizing, if desired.

Shouldn't be toooo hard. I'd go with the rope, myself. Lots of rigging to set it up...and you'd need some strong pull available to both lift the skyline after the load is attached and to retrieve it back uphill. A bit tricky to keep the load fixed under the carriage as the skyline is hoisted...

Today I cut down an ash tree that is infested with Chalara fraxinea. Ash drying affects trunks, branches and leaves, causing bark necrosis and premature drying of tree tops. The disease is spread through planting plants, seeds and wood of the genus Fraxinus sp. I have a new trophy.
