Happy birthday Rajan

Today, among the other trees I felled, there was an unremarkable birch. The surprise was waiting for me at the very end, when I made the final cut, right at the ground! (It's always a surprise!) And, as always, it turned out to be a new chain!

Oh, and I meant to mention Cornell has an app you can put on your phone that will listen to the bird and identify it. It's amazing to just set your phone down and see how many birds it hears. Merlin is the app.

Couple mornings ago it was quite breezy. A flock of 7 Turkey Vultures were soaring effortlessly on the wind. They were joined by a pair of Ravens. First year I have seen them. After a while a single hawk joined in. A raven swooped down on the hawk as if to tell him we don't like your kind...

Removed a couple of big oaks today. I need a taller crane. Glad I could get up tight to this one

Cable job yesterday on the tree that dropped a limb on a roof. I pruned the part over the roof. Installed that leg.. Here's Kavey installing the other side. This tree is going to have one more cable to the limb far right over the roof. waiting on materials. HOBBS on trunk for scale. Blue oak.

Root disease pocket being managed. I set a throwline for Wraptor-ing up the next tree while high in the first tree. Speedlined branches over understory trees and natives.

The owner asked specifically to not drop anything. Behind was a bit of irregular slop, with lots of targets little plants.:D To the right was flower bed with 1 meter free space to manouver, also this right side was a downhill ending in a pool:cry:. Did I mention the septic tank 2,5 meters far...
