    Earth Anchors / Staking

Seems like a branch/ bar in the eye of the earth auger would be easier. The duckbill is cool, but not reuseable. The only downside that I see.

hammer handle rw up for grabs

Basal Tie options include a POW, a munter-mule, trunk wraps with half-hitches to tie off. Way easier to retrieve, plus ground lowering options, and less need to isolate. The rope running throught the canopy doesn't concern me at all, and actually gives benefits of redundancy and energy...

    Tree felling vids

Gord's Magic Cut or sniped snap cut. Releases without pushing. No saw snatching. Some directional control on vertical to leaning-to-the-lay sections. Easy peasy. A fast way to block down a spar. No fighting hinges, no pull ropes, no ropes trapped under logs. No pulling up the pull line, then...

    Burl Bandits

I hear that around here, for poaching 'music wood', figured bigleaf maple, mostly, that people have muffler hoses run in to buckets of water.

2 more fatalities locally, work safe people!

Hinge is cut off on the one side, and looks like it there are saw marks from the tip of the bar behind the hinge on the remaining side, which seems thick. At that height, it looks like he might have been cutting at shoulder height or higher. Maybe limb locked with another tree and cutting lean...

    Stihl ms150 tc

Either the vibe number is a typo, or its rubber bushing mounted or hard body. I've never seen vibe specs before. Its a good thing.

simple reliable ascender system for srt

Ropewalker- foot ascender, floating ascender, elastic cord around neck for keeping Rope Wrench/ Hitch Hiker and hitch upward. Simple and easy. Like a ladder, but with two hands free to grab the rope or nagivate limbs, push away when moving over crotches.

    How'd it go today?

Climbed a doug-fir in The Man's tree spurs. Reminded me why I use pole spurs on my own jobs. What a knee wrencher, and wobbly! Anybody that hasn't tried 'em, I highly recommend 'em. I know people are concerned about kicking out, but it really doesn't happen to me at almost 200 pounds, even with...

    5/8" flipline

The thing that I don't like about the weight of my 5/8x15' flipline is that it pulls through the adjuster on its own in a way that my 1/2" x 12' didn't. Mucho better on the hands, though.

The newer anti-vibe saws are great for that aspect, IMO. http://www.galeton.com/hulk-anti-vibration-gloves/9100950-product/?krypto=5UUoyvkYjgVX2sqZtwEFHEhBoJf2TOdWmPPkXGj1hpMx2Jn%2Fj8WRI3VGtrqZUOhsql1EYzxmBNa%2B%0AmGNxb9MkQD7QwONuaDvf78yHv2GvgLc%3D These help, too, but we only really use them...

I figure IT people can see what I've looked at on their computers, possibly. In a time of broke state gov't, people look to justify their jobs.

Jed, Doug-fir are the best to work with. Trust the face. Set your gunning sight to as distant an object as possible! Good even hinge. It'll go. We've pounded over dead back leaners with laminated root rot that go right into a tight spot without really thinking about it. Doug-fir are good to go...

Ya, Its Sean, aka SouthSoundTree. WSP is the login I'll use for use at work/Parks. It will give me some separation between The (I.T.) Man and my personal/ Elders SST login. Duane may post from it as well. He's my supervisor that has appeared in such pictures as 'Dang Big Tree' and 'Dang Big...
