What is the Circle of Death?

It is called a BOLA, I designed it as a lanyard adjuster that will release when weighted. Here is a video John made that shows its use better than my poor description. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNNaaQ_L_A8 <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SNNaaQ_L_A8"...

What is the Circle of Death?

The lanyard would run from the top teardrop around and back through the stainless steel arms. the bottom teardrop would attach to your harness. You could have the lanyard terminate at the side of your saddle also, but then you would not be isolated from the circle. You can adjust the BOLA on...

What is the Circle of Death?

If you terminate the lanyard back into the top teardrop attach point it would remove the climber from the circle.

    Wood stove heat

I just installed a pellet stove for mom. It is perfect for her, compared to the double barrel stove in the basement, because she can easily handle the pellets and push a button to light it up. It is programable and can be set to turn on and off automatically at pre-determined times, and set to...

    T4 bacteriaphage

He has copied the code from an existing organism, then had another organism (yeast) make copies of his copy, and finally substituted this copied code into yet another pre-existing cytoplasm, which already has the machines required for cellular tasks like carrying sugars, copying DNA, removing...

    T4 bacteriaphage

It's amazing what you can discover on the internet. They say this phage has a code of life that is 169,000 base pairs long (I wonder how that compares with the computer code for the average website), with instructions for making 289 proteins, any one of which if missing, would be detrimental to...

    T4 bacteriaphage

This is sort of a test to see how to attach a picture file to a post, but if this works, this picture is an electron scan of a virus that infects an e. coli bacteria. It begins to replicate DNA and inject into the host within 10 minutes and at such speed that after only a few minutes the host...

Any Rope Wrench or Hitch Hiker users here?

It seems from what I have tried, with a pulley on the bottom of the biner, that you can tend slack on the spine side of the HH, if you set up the pulley facing that way. Does anyone else do this ? The pulley then acts as a runner when being pulled upwards on ascent.

Making Rope Wrench ZK-1 Midline Attachable?

The reach on the ZK-1 is 7/8". If the reach is 7/8" on the ZK-2 pin, then it would be possible to use the ZK-2 pin on the ZK-1, as long as you drill the pin hole out to the larger dia. of the ZK-2 pin dia. on the body of the ZK-1.

    Wood Turning

Beautiful bowls. It is amazing the beauty locked up in wood, and the great variety. Here is a bowl turned from Maple, the bark holds on better than you might think, but still tricky to do without ruining the piece or having it split. I use a Beech bowl that cracked, to hold small objects in...
