Rangerdanger,
Why would you want to purposefully reduce the potential strength of the splice? I'm assuming you are intending to use the Tachyon for life support yeah? as you were doing your maths homework maybe do some calculations to work out the safe working load of the rope (spliced and un...
Max just the eye and maybe a bit of the cover to help stop the ends fraying. don't go mental, i put two coats on some beeline and it's still ridgid years later (it's not a hitch cord)

ach well thats ok then. suppose i'll just have to keep my ticks to myself then:lol:.
there are quite a few tree supply companys just most sell tenex if they sell anything
Jamie
sarthur, Tenex is the only stuff you can find over here, i'm sure there would be some places that might stock Yalex but don't go holding your breath. in the past i've spliced marlow D12 which is a 12 strand hollow dyneema rope, quite stiff and low low melting point. i'm not a fan or marlow...

i'll let ya'll know how it...
leave the marlow splicing guides well alone. to use their guides it helps if you can splice rope in teh first place. for commercial (shipping)splicers i've heard that tehy won't touch European ropes and prefer to stick to samson.
Jamie
I'd give anything to be over your way, i was there about 9 years ago, stayed with my friends family, spent most of our time in Smugglers Notch...
Jamie
Startersplice, try to get the whipping closer to the throat of the splice. my thinking is that there will be more untampered with strands of the rope giving a more secure lock with less movement.
