Worst Critter Encounter In The Tree

Do they say in the states and other places that bees will especially go after someone wearing black? True or not, I've heard it said that it is a defence mechanism that they have against Bears. On a bike trip with a friend, we pulled into a natural rest area, and under a seldom used roof shelter in the woods was a hive. We both walked under it and sat down, and when my friend took off his cap and exposed his black hair, that's when he was attacked with numerous stings. We called an ambulance. I was there next to him and we both took off running, but I wasn't stung once.

Yeah, fortunate to be alive Pat. I wouldn't bee surprised to learn that they react to color Jay. I know yellow flies here are attracted to black as well. Black painted beach balls coated with Tanglefoot, Tangle Trap or Sticky Stuff are hanging on strings in nearly every yard here in the summer. They fly to the black color and movement, get stuck and cause no more trouble.

Beekeepers wear white for that reason.
