Tree felling vids

I was wondering that.

I sometimes use 1" nylon slings with aluminum biners for a vertical rig, but if there is a drag to the chipper, I speedline one whorl at a time. Clip them all up, tension the line, cut them all free.

Correction - I use a marl, not a half hitch.

But not on each limb right? Am I understanding you right? You only put a marl by itself on the first one or two or three branches, and then put a running bowline on, say the fourth. Right?

I've got guys that'll swear to me that you should never have less than at least a cow-hitch or clove on any one limb in the "Christmas rig."

Yes, the running bowline on the last limb - marls on the other.

FTR, I call an overhand knot a marl. But, I'm not positive that is the right terminology.

Loop runners for the win when rigging evergreen trees. I set the first limb with a running bowline and clip the rest of the whorl on and snip, snip, snip, snip, snip, snip, and down.

That works Butch. I do the same. What I'm wondering is if you've ever lost a piece when slack is accidentally introduced in the line, as when it snags up on a nub or something. The shop old-timer here swears I'm gonna break a window, but I've had pretty good luck.

That's how I've been doing it too Butch. Haven't lost one yet. And the groundies hate it when I use both ends because they can't get a break.

Man, that's a cool trick... I have yet to implement the ol' "upender". I do it once in a while, but not enough.

Nasty dead oak I posted the walk around on...
First had to clear the hangers over our work area and set up a good rigging point.
Then we focused on getting the large limb over the structure down.

Took the last bit of the limb from the cabled point back in two picks... And I forgot to turn the camera on for the first bit so you are all spared
Bit rough but it worked

And then the boring part... Last top dismantle and throwing some wood.
And a wraptor ride ;)
and of course, hitting metal with your 32" square chisel ....

Grinder Jed. I carry extra sharpened loops in the truck.
HO was told that the cost goes up if I hit metal in the tree to keep cutting. He opted for me to stop cutting. We were right at bid 9 hours so it worked out for everyone :)
I was surprised how well the chain was still cutting since I hit it cutting the face.

That was NOT a "load of crap." Those were really beautiful shots in a beautiful wood. Looked like a great day by my standards; but I'm easy... long as I don't have the hedge shears in my hands, I'm usually pretty happy.

What ya gotta do when you get back from rec climbing........
