so i found a sweet ass chip truck over at mayer equipment in sacremento,
my concern is, it is a 92 gmc topkick with a 3116 cat turbo diesel.

i cant figure out the vast expanse of bs on the internet, if this truck will be legal to run in cali and for how long..

so if i sink ten grand plus paint and fees, lets say 15 grand in a truck, how long can it run here before carb kicks in and says no...2yrs...?

anyone know?....Jeff in SD you know?

Does the CARB have inspections? Or do they now have a cutoff for certain year vehicles to not be on the road?

I'm not sure but I'm guessing you won't get it registered in CA. It's 20 years old and the 3116 had some issues (the 3126 was much improved).

Dave, Yeah, that is a good truck. FYI, CARB does not regulate vehicles. There is a reason it is for sale, but I doubt it is the regs, unless it cannot pass a smoke test.

who does the smoke test, and can i get it done before i agree to buy? hows that all work?
they said it will register in ca...subject to future regulation, but so is my boom, and chipper so wth is a guy supposed to do.
