I've seen a lot of things honeowners do when they think their tree is about to fall. From wedging a 2x4 or a limb under the trunk of a tree that is already laying on their house to getting a ladder and tying a split tree back together with Wal Mart ski rope 8 ft high. Yesterday had to win the award for the most useless thing I've seen. He took what alpeared to be about 2 ft of a T post and drilled holes in it and nailed it across the split trunk of a 48" oak that had split in the wind and was in danger of hitting his house and power line. Kinda hard to see in the pics. I was trying to get some pics of it without him seeing me because I had already made a remark about it probably not helping much so I was behind the bucket but him and his wife were swarming all around once it was on the ground.

When I was a little kid(6 maybe?), I broke a cherry limb trying to climb it. I tied it back up with dental floss and scotch tape. Didn't fool anyone, or work that well :^D
