Folks rightly go on about the guitar playing of Angus Young, but It's the rhythm playing of his brother Malcolm that I dig.
This is excellent stuff.

I don't see anything so special about the three chord progression of Malcoms playing. Any guitar player could do it.

Guitar technique don't impress me much to be honest, I'm definitely turned on to feel and the sound chosen. The feel comes from his rhythmical right hand and not from the chords. I believe the Young brothers both play straight in to marshals without any effects pedals. My all time favourite guitar player is Ron Asheton of the Stooges. Not a man known for dynamic technique. But the sound he gets out of the guitar is Armageddon sonic tastic! Once again great feel, even when doing a 4 minute 3 note guitar solo. (like Niel Young's one note solos).
The Bass player Holger Czukay said when talking about the shredders like Steve Vai and Eddie Van Halen is that the reason they play so many notes is because they can't find the right ...one. BB King often will just play one note with such feeling and style, knowing he could at any second just go off and play a crazy blues lick, that restraint could be heard in the one note. That restraint is uber cool.

When I was in high school a few of my friends kept telling how great Yngwie Malmsteen was. His stuff didn't do a thing for me. There will always be guys who can shred on guitar but just aren't that interesting. I love Mark Knopfler and while I'm sure there are legions of guitar players as good or better, they haven't produce the catalogue of great licks and tunes he has. ACDC has deliberately kept it simple and have produced a great string of rock and roll standards.
 
Knopfler is an extremely good guitarist and songwriter. Some of his stuff is quite cheesy, but some of his music is fantastic.

I love his Theme music to the film 'Local Hero'

I love the "tourettes solo" around the 1:20 mark. Another great solo at 2:35. Well timed use of the head slap as well.
