It loaded, and then dissappeared. But I finally found what your talkin' about. It is a bit like the 4X4 Giraffe, leaving an un-even ugly mess behind. Even if you were to poke along like a snail, the wheelbase and width of a skidsteer would make the cuts (in the air) look like crap! IMO

Edit: When I had my trimmer on the full sized skidsteer, visability was a real issue.

I can see it's uses, but I'd think they'd be pretty limited! I've seen the large wheel loaders use them to clear along rail lines and low level tree clearing. I've also seen those same wheel loaders after they'd burnt down to the ground, so...........

I've never been fond of skid steers mostly due to the limited visibility. I think this type of job requires that the operator has good visibility to do the job safely. You need to constantly watch for obstacles as well as changing terrain. The skid steer as an operating platform absolutely sucks for something like this. For the same money you can buy a real tractor and work twice as fast with a lot less effort.

I see set-ups like that mostly used on tractors for clearing the sides of the road.

And doing so poorly around here. They seem to leave a plethora of pungee sticks. I especially despise their use as a pruning tool.

I totally agree, Brian. But, our Ministry of Environment (MoE) contract monitor has specified this as part of a three year mowing contract. Rather than men on brush saws or the skidsteer mower for the flat stuff. Trust me when I say that you do what this chick wants...or else. She has a stern reputation. I don't bend over for her, but oddly enough or perhaps because of this we get along quite well.

All kidding aside, besides speculation has anyone run one of these bad boys? When Kim asked me to post this my immediate response was; Well how much does it cost in comparison to a used tractor with a mower boom?

It seems like a bad investment.

Who is Kim?

CNR uses them here, from the tracks. Like Mike says they don't cut worth a darn! It is because it is a high speed rototiller that usually doesn't go into the ground!

What will you be cutting?
