Only some limited use. I got mine for the same reason.

It takes a good amount of power to winch logs, especially on soft ground and up a grade. I'd want to make sure if it was adequate.

Yeah it says it pulls a tonne so I guess that's not to bad

Put a bigger power head on the chainsaw version, and it will pull a lot more......until it breaks.
And it will break! Set up a 2 or 3:1 MA with it if it is struggling, and if you have a lot of wood to winch, consider getting the more expensive 4 stroke Honda version instead of the Simpson.
