..like I said, growing up in the Hudson Valley we always saw him, knew his story, chatted here and there, threw money in pails to build Sloop Cearwater and that only his local side....Global recognition with a list of good deeds so long...seems like no one obituary can describe him....Arlo Guthrie was asked to write it, he tried...called Pete to tell him it. It was impossible , they laughed about it and figured whatever gets written by everyone would be fine...personally I am sad but we all knew the day would come

He wrote some great songs for sure. I never knew The Birds' song was his.

...the list of songs is simply too long as well, some of the best...from children's classics to some of the best anti war tunes ever played...."Big Muddy" made the U.S. government uncomfortable for some reason
